EDINBURGH and MACHYNLLETH COMEDY FESTIVAL 2025
Hello once again to the CMB x As You Werewolves,
Thank you for reading CMB x As You Were.
Very classly, the four work-in-progress shows I’ve put on at the Glasgow Comedy Festival at Drygate Brewery and The Flying Duck have sold out two months in advance. I’ve been working on new stuff at club gigs, and keeping/taking notes since being on the road with Frankie, and it’s coming together nicely in advance of it making its proper debut at the Fringe in August. I really enjoy doing these early new material shows where I have notes up with me and we can work out what’s fun to talk about and what needs work. They’re very low stakes and cosy and funny and cheap and necessary so I appreciate the CMB Hive for coming out in full force.
Decided to stick a few Edinburgh Work In Progresses on-sale at the wonderful Monkey Barrel Comedy for this new show, on Saturdays and Sundays in March, May and July. These are all in really nice rooms just off the royal mile and they’re a tenner a pop.

Also, I think I forgot to say, but I’ll be doing a work-in-progress in May at Welsh comedy geek heaven MACHYNLLETH COMEDY FESTIVAL on Sunday May 4th at 6pm at Machynlleth Rugby Club. I dipped in for a short spot last year at the compilation show The Paddock and the vibes were sensational beyond belief. If you’re a Guillotine Dreamer, or a Guilloteen, or a Brain Damaged Ape by any stretch of the imagination, Susie McCabe (my sage) is doing a WIP there, too, of her new show. There’s loads of good shows at it! Check it out. Going to be previewing this show to within an inch of its life. Keep an eye out.
Just wanted to say, also that I finally made this soup (“Good Soup”) after hungoveredly scribbling the recipe down in about 2017/2018, and it was terrific, and I wanted to share my good soup with the denizens of CMB x As You Were. Simmer for 25 minutes between the stock and the herbs.
Peace and love in the new millennium,
CMB x As You Were
